The award is Ronaldo's fifth who draws him level with rival Messi for the most Ballon d'Or awards ever. Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are currently the best football stars in the world, and their rivalry is expected to continue this season in the Spanish League and also at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
