BREAKING: Boko Haram leader Shekau appears in fresh video .


- The 31-minute long video was said to have been released on Tuesday, January 2 - Shekau spoke in Hausa language in the video and claimed responsibility for festive season attacks - The video contained footage of a Christmas Day attack in Molai village in Maiduguri outskirts The Punch is reporting that Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has made an appearance in a fresh video released today, January 2, 2018. According to the report, Shekau claimed Boko Haram was responsible for series of attacks in northeast Nigeria during the festive season. The Punch reports that Shekau spoke in the Hausa language in the in the 31-minute video message. He said: “We are in good health and nothing has happened to us. 
The New Telegraph reports that the video also showed footages from a Christmas Day attack on a military checkpoint in Molai village on the outskirts of the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri. This comes just as LATESTNAIJAGIST reported that the Nigerian Army denied that five soldiers were killed by insurgents in a surprise attack on a military base in Yobe at the close of December 2017. The Guardian quoted ‘a credible top security source’ as saying that five soldiers were found dead and evacuated to Maiduguri and about 30 others could not be immediately accounted for after the attack.
The report further quoted an eyewitness Bukar as saying that the attackers struck the base in seven Toyota Hilux vans. But spokesman of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, in Damaturu, the state capital, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, on Monday, January 1, said the reports were not true. He said: “Yes, there was an attack on our troops two days ago by Boko Haram terrorists in Kannama town. It was, however, repelled. Our soldiers are in hot pursuit of the fleeing insurgents.”
