The Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, has been sworn into office as the new Acting Governor following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako and the resignation of his deputy.
Mr. Fintiri was sworn in by the President of the Customary Court in the State at the council chambers of Government House, Yola.....
In a short remark after his swearing in, the new acting governor promised to pay the civil servants salaries the outstanding two months being owed them by the state government.
Part of the allegations against former governor Nyako was the alleged cut in civil servants salaries for the month of June.
Civil servants were also not paid for July because the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, froze the accounts of the state government at the beginning of impeachment process against Messrs. Nyako and Ngilari; though the later resigned to stave off impeachment.
Mr. Fintiri will hold office for a maximum of 3 months during which time the electoral commission, INEC, is expected to conduct a fresh governorship election.
