About 1,000 Nigerians today stormed the gate of the National Assembly, protesting government complacency in securing the release of more than 200 female pupils of Federal Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
Led by erstwhile Minister of Education, Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili, the protesters converged on the Unity Fountain for the protest, which they tagged Rescue for Chibok Girls.
At the start of the rally, Ezekwesili addressed the crowd, urging them to be unrelenting in their determination to pressure the Federal Government into taking bolder steps to secure the release of the girls. They then defied the rains to march to the National Assembly to express their grievances to the country’s lawmakers.
