- National Sports Festival: Kick-boxing will witness good officiating
Adeniji-Adele said in Lagos that the decision was to
avoid a recurrence of problems recorded at the 18th festival in Lagos over alleged poor officiating.
“Honestly, we are going to expect something better, we are going to expect a lighter mood.
“We are going to expect a nice turn out and we are going to expect at least a smooth technical officiating in Calabar.
“I am happy that we are going to take the bull by the horn to make sure the technical meeting comes up with all the technical crews involving both the Federal and State levels.
He urged the coaches to be familiar with the current rules of the sport to enable them to train their athletes in line with the required standard.
According to him, athletes are expected to apply the rules of kick-boxing during the festival, while officials conversant with the regulations are required to give judgement appropriately.
Kick-boxing was inconclusive at the festival tagged: “EKO 2012’’ over alleged poor officiating.
The next edition of the sports fiesta would hold in Calabar, Cross River later in 2014. (NAN)
